STI Survey

The National Survey of Research and Development (R&D) is designed to find out the status, trends and statistics of the national R&D for a financial year.

The most recent study was conducted in 2023 through a strategic collaboration with the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), covering data for the 2022 financial year.

Currently, MASTIC is in the process of conducting the National Survey of R&D 2025, which focuses on data collection for the 2024 financial year. This survey is vital in providing the evidence-based insights required to shape Malaysia’s STI landscape.

The National Survey of Innovation measures the level of innovation activity and innovation status in the manufacturing and services sectors of Malaysia for a certain financial year.

The latest study conducted by MASTIC in 2021, covering data for the financial year 2018 until 2020.

The 2022 Public Awareness of STI Malaysia Study was the ninth in a series of surveys conducted by the Malaysian Science and Technology Information Centre (MASTIC). The aim of the survey was to assess the Malaysian public’s awareness and understanding of, interest in, and attitude towards STI as well as to discern their involvement in STI programmes.

The results of this study are intended not only for government agencies and policy makers, but also for the educational and private sector. The findings are particularly useful to enable educationists and policy makers to come up with strategies to make STI more appealing to Malaysians. They will also allow us to take a closer look at how we could employ STI to strengthen our position internationally and bring our country on par with developed nations.

The Public’s Awareness of STI Malaysia 2022 Report is especially important given the importance that our country has placed on STI to propel us towards addressing the challenges of the future.

The Malaysian Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Indicators Report aims to collect important data and provide detailed information on the achievement of various national STI indicators obtained from studies conducted by MASTIC, divisions/departments/agencies under MOSTI as well as other ministries/ departments/ agencies/ organizations which identified as a secondary data.
