SweetSmile: An Interactive Multimedia that Educates Preschoolers to Practice a Good Oral Hygiene Habit

In order to educate pre-schoolers to practice good oral hygiene, SweetSmile Multimedia Application was developed. Using this interactive application, the children will be more excited and enthusiastic to learn about oral hygiene as it comes with colors, songs, animations, graphics and videos. The first section teaches children how to brush their teeth properly, the second informs about healthy food for teeth, and the third offers activities to strengthen childrens understanding through guessing games.

Computed Tomography Simulation Software

This simulation software is a tool to assist and expedite the learning process in Computed Tomography (CT). The
software is capable of performing the forward modeling based on the pre-defined image reconstruction algorithms
and sensor array arrangements.
Conventionally, to design and develop the tomography system, the mathematical modeling of the sensor projections
are needed in order to determine the suitable image reconstruction algorithm as well as estimating the image
reconstructed on the image plane. This process is time consuming and involves complex mathematical calculations.

Modified Double Weight (MDW) Code for Ocdma FTTH Network using FGPA Based

Modified Double Weight (MDW) code is a DW code family variation that has variable weights of greater than two. This code possesses numerous advantages including the efficient and easy code construction, simple encoder/decoder design, existence for every natural number n, ideal cross-correlation ( = 1) and higher SNR. A new design of encoder and decoder proposed has a great potential to become one of the optical communication transmitters and receiver system because the code can be easily selected and applicable to any code in OCDMA systems and signals can be transmitted for long distances up to 100 km, which is the maximum distance for Local Area Network application (eg. Fiber To The Home (FTTH)).

New Detection Technique Using RANDOM DIAGONAL (RD) Code For FTTH Network

Recently, many researchers are proposed Fiber-to-the home (FTTH) for area network. Their proposals are based on complementary detection technique. This invention proposed the novel FTTH structures based on the RANDOM DIAGONAL (RD) code in metropolitan area network environment using a newly proposed spectral direct detection technique. One of the important properties of this code is that the cross correlation at data segment is always zero, which means that Phase Intensity Induced Noise (PIIN) is reduced. The results which are obtained mainly from the experimental simulation works are presented. In the simulation analysis, the study will be focused on the point-to-point network using the RD code. The results are taken from the studies on the effect of distance, bit rate, and input power. Finally, the overall FTTH system cost and complexity can be reduced because of the less number of filters used in spectral direct detection technique especially for high number of users.

Compact Planar Highly Efficient Antenna for WLAN Applications

A printed microstrip monopole is designed to be operated in WLAN frequency range, which is one of the most important data connectivity features required in mobile terminals. The antenna is designed in compact size and feed, with a parasitic and ground plane to replace large ground planes used in traditional monopole designs. Using a /4 transformer, the antenna is easily matched to any 50 transmission line and ports interface to RF front ends. The optimized design is fabricated onto low cost FR-4, a material widely used in the production of printed-circuit boards (PCBs). Such mature fabrication technology reduces inaccuracy risks and ensures consistency of measured results. Antenna return losses are less than -10 dB over the WLAN frequency range of 2.40 GHz - 2.48 GHz. This narrow band and yet efficient feature reduces the collection of other signals within the adjacent frequency spectrum. Radiation pattern of this antenna entailed a comparable gain and beamwidth against conventional monopole antenna.

Embedded Linux Network Monitoring System (eLNMS)

For many years Internet and Intranet traffic monitoring application has been developed to be executed on personal computer (PC) with high processing power. Thus the benefit of low cost, small size and portability which embedded system has to offer has never been benefited by these kinds of applications. The emergence of embedded Linux had driven developers to take up the challenge of developing high processing power application on embedded Linux platform.This research describes the design and development of an Embedded Network Traffic Monitoring (ENTM) system based on single board computer (SBC) and an open source embedded Linux operating system (OS). The developed ENTMsystem is capable of probing network packets, analyze the probe data and display the results of the analyzed and raw data. This system is a handy device for network administrator in analyzing incoming and outgoing network traffic. The main hardware components of ENTM system are the TS-5400 SBC, LCD panel, keypad and Compact Flash (CF) card. The ENTM software system is composed of four modules namely System Control (SC), Network Packet probe (NPP), Packet Analysis (PA) and View Module (VM). The SC module act as an interface/menu to execute various functionalities of the system and the integration of external devices (Keypad and LCD panel) to the SBC. The NPP module capture packets from a network segment, extract the packets information and store them into a temporary data buffer for further analysis. The PA module keeps track of global and individual-host information into files for viewing. The VM is used to display the analyze data through any web browser. To ensure reliability and practicality, analysis of the system performance is significant. Thus, the ENTM system performance is compared against execution of the software on Desktop PC and Wireshark, a well known competitive network analyzer. The experimental results shows that the data capture and packet capture rates of ENTM system is very much identical (less than 0.5% variation) during execution on Desktop PC and Wireshark regardless of its low CPU speed and memory size. The results prove that ENTM design and implementation is highly competitive even though of the hardware specification has low processing power and memory.

Multiband Rugged Bow Tie Antenna for Outdoor Application

Bow tie antenna are widely used because their exhibit a very low profile, small size, light weight, low cost, high efficiency and easy methods of fabrication and installation. This actractive rugged bow tie antenna design exhibits wide bandwidth and good radiation characterictis. Omni-directional antenna invented here have 65-89% efficiency with peak gain value is 3.8 dBi. and covers the 5 cellular bands. In general, the antenna is about 1.5 inches high, 5 inches in diameter, and built with a standard TNC male connector at the other end. The antenna will operate within any of the cellular bands between 806 MHz 960 MHz and 1710 MHz 2170 MHz, and should be built to operate in an outdoor environment. This antenna is for a low profile outdoor rugged antenna to be in typical outdoor applications such as ATM machines and vehicle installations.
The novelty comes from the antenna design, which is miniature for outdoor application and produce a linear, vertical polarization while the azimuth plane, (Horizontal) -3dB Beamwidth is omnidirectional. Out of the ordinary, the antenna was able to perform with great efficiency and obtain size reduction without ignoring bandwidth and gain.
This antenna is for a low profile outdoor rugged antenna to be in typical outdoor applications such as ATM machines and vehicle installations and will operate within any of the cellular bands between 806 MHz 960 MHz and 1710 MHz 2170 MHz.

The Design of Dielectric Loaded Helical Antenna for Local Area Network (WLAN) Applications

Helical antennas have been popular antenna configurations meant for various applications provided its simple structure. Studies on the best custom shape parameters dielectric loaded helical antenna for Access Point WLAN IEEE 802.11 b/g 2.4 GHz to 2.48 GHz applications had been done. It presents the investigation of a Novel helical antenna incorporated with Barium Strontium Titanate (BST). Methods and antenna assembly techniques are based on readings. Much scrutiny focuses on the parametric study of such antennas with the use of simulation tools CST Microwave Studio capable of performing multiple dimension parameter sweeps. The antenna impedance is optimized by varying the antenna geometrical parameters and the dielectric loading within transient solver. The antenna design is optimized for operation with two of the WLAN Access Points (APs) products already available in the market to determine its suitability, integration and as to provide an alternative piece to the manufacturers antennas arsenal. A helical antenna with a high permittivity dielectric loaded place in the middle of the helix is designed here should operate as the WLAN b/g Access Point. It is fed through a square flange jack SMA. The ground plane acts like a reflector is cut not bigger than 29 mm in radius. The antenna model resulted in producing higher gain than without incorporating BST as its dielectric.

A Newly Design Quasi-Cyclic Low Density Parity Check Codes with Robust Decoder

Convolutional codes are encoded using a finite-state process, which generates them in a linear order encoding scheme. Subsequently, convolutional codes led to the discovery of a class of codes called Turbo codes which are the class of concatenated convolutional codes and randomized the order of some of the bits by using an interleaver. In this study, new QC-LDPC codes have been developed and then implemented to the newly designed codes on FPGA platform. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed QC-LDPC codes achieve a 0.1dB coding gain over randomly constructed codes and perform 1.3dB from the Shannon-limit at a BER with a code rate of 0.89 for block length of 1332.

An OFDM Communication over Synchronized Channels

OFDM systems is not only devalued by ISI but also by the loss of orthogonality between subcarriers and ICI if the carrier frequency offset is not counterbalanced correctly. A new scheme for channel prediction in OFDM system is proposed. The technique adaptively estimates the channel conditions and eliminated the need for the system to transmit a request message prior to transmitting. The ready-to-use channel will be occupied with a PN code and use for transmission otherwise, it will be banned.
